August 15-17
A long weekend, took off Monday for my birthday. Can’t believe I’m 23.
On with a few pictures I took from the weekend.
Saturday Tiffany Scored some free Titans tickets, my first titans game. Before the game we hit up Chili’s for some two for one margarita’s and split to the game.
Section 316, Row Y, Seat 24.
Shot a Chevelle Sunday. More here: http://miles-magazine.com/wordpress/2009/08/19/mikes-70-chevrolet-chevelle/
And Monday we headed to Nashville Shores for some sunbathing, and hit up the Hibachi Grill for some Japanese food.
Had an excellent weekend.
Also got a new toy in the mail from her:
Why I want to further my photography education.
Cover creation from Peter Belanger on Vimeo.
After working on the latest cover for Macworld Magazine I wanted to show what is involved in making a cover. I focused on the three main areas: the photography, photoshop and design. I chose a time lapse format to convey lots of information in a small amount of time. The only drawback of time lapse is that since half a day goes by in 30 seconds, the whole process seam so easy! Lots of details were left out of the design process (like the cover meetings and rounds of layout options). I began to photograph the design process after the layouts had already been narrowed down to just three cover designs.
On the technical side, for the time lapse video, I used the Canon 5D Mark II with a 24mm-70mm zoom. I chose the 5D because of its great image quality with high ISO’s. Canon’s sRAW1 gave me the flexibility of a RAW file with the file size of a jpeg. The actual Macworld cover was taken with a Phase One P65+ digital back attached to a 4×5 Sinar X camera with a 65mm lens.
Many thanks to Rob Schultz for allowing me to invade his office and literally shoot over his shoulder.

August 8th-9th 2009
On Saturday night I headed to the Mt. Juliet Cruise-In once again. It was much less packed this time around, probably due to the hot weather. Still alot of different cars that I had not seen before. Below are a few of my favorites, click any of them to go to my flickr page, and view them all.
Sunday I headed to the TRSCCA autocross, not to pleased with my shots, as I didn’t know I had to have a spotter and I think my wrist was broken because most of the shots I got are crooked. It’s good to know that they want us photographers to use spotters, I wish all the events required this. Most of the novice photographers don’t pay attention when they are out on the track.
Moody’s Supra – Side Shot Edited
Putting the story together tonight for Moody’s supra. I did spend a bit of time to flex my photoshop skills on the image.

So stoked.. Skydive Soon
So for my 23rd B-Day my Mom and Stepdad are jumping. I am very excited as I have been wanting to do this for a couple of years. I have been looking around the internet at different videos trying to get my mind ready. My stepfather was a paratrooper back in the day, and has recently started jumping again. Mom asked if I wanted to do this for my birthday, and I was totally in, ready for that weekend to come, and it should be next weekend when it goes down.
I came across this video of a guy that produces jump videos, and it’s pretty cool because you can see space shuttle Atlantis heading to space in the background.

Moody’s Supra
A shoot from yesterday, I want to just put the files in my recycle bin but I’m going to share them with you anyways.
I met Chris Moody about a year ago, I have always enjoyed seeing his supra, and he is always a fun character to hang out with.
I will be featuring his car on miles-magazine soon, I am just waiting for a write-up to be put together.
Props to Chad Lunn for helping organize this shoot and letting me barrow his strobes.
