Another year gone by.
I turned 24 last week, this past year has flown by. I proposed to my love Tiffany in June, our wedding date is May 1st, 2011. The wedding will be held at Samson’s H0llow. We are going to Florida for vacation in 2 weeks, and then will be doing our engagement session. I’ll keep everyone updated when the pictures are processed.
Soon after moving to Knoxville I was hired at ADESA Inc., I am the E-Commerce administrator as well as the IT Field Coordinator.
Lately I’ve laid off the photography and webdesign, just maintaining current projects. I’ve been using the extra time to dedicate to my car a passion I enjoy much more than trying to impress someone on the internet with my work. Next spring I’ll be attending a few high performance driving events to tune my driving skills. I’ll also begin building my motor, I plan to squeeze 230 horsepower out of it. It’ll be a challenge, as the stock motor just does over 160hp to the wheels.
There will be more to come on the car stuff, I’m working on a collaboration on a new a automotive blog for the enthusiast. I’ve retired miles magazine, and plan on taking that concept to the next level. I’ll keep everyone posted on the web url when everything gets nailed down.
That’s about it for now. I know it’s not that exciting of an update.
-Stay Tuned.
Channel9 Marty O’Donnell Interview
As some of you may know I am a huge, HUGE fan of the halo series. I recently started playing halo 3 once again, just to have something to do to clear my mind after being stuck indoors during the cold winter. Well I was playing until I got the dreaded e73 error on my box, but it’s out for repair and will be back soon. Anyways, Marty O’Donnell is a cool dude, reading some of his biography was refreshing. I am excited to see what he brings to the table in Halo:Reach.
2010 Goals
With 2010 already here I’m going to go ahead and post up some of my goals for this year. Some call it “New Years Resolutions” but I think that’s a bunch of fancy talk.
First and foremost: Grow my business and make if official. Over the last couple of months I have been refreshing my Inkwell Design Studios website. I will soon be taking the legal steps to make it a business, and employ myself to grow it in to something successful that pays my bills and more. Hopefully I can profit enough money off of it this year to allow myself to go back to school and gain new knowledge on the newest technologies.
Knoxville, TN is now home to me. I moved here on Halloween of 2009, and hope to call this place home for a lasting while. Things are good between me and my girlfriend Tiffany, and talking about settling down and all that jazz. Engagement rings are expensive.
See goal one, “make enough profit to go back to school”, I better add to that and make enough to pay for that ring setting too. Love you babe. I have been scouting out local web development groups and hope to meet some people that have some of the same interests as me and see if we can partner up and benefit off of each other’s services.
I haven’t had much luck on finding a job at the moment. The economy isn’t that great here, but I have good intentions, this week I am going to meet with a few people on discussions of work. I am trying to start up the Knoxville territory with a company called auto uplink, doing the automotive inventory management that I was doing a couple years back. There product is much better than that of the companies I used to work for, the technology is much better.
While browsing around on the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce’s site I did learn a few cool things about the city.
- One of the 50 Hottest Cities for Business Relocation and Expansion, Expansion Management, 2005, 2006, 2007
- Among the top 10 Best Places for Business and Careers, Forbes, 2006, 2007, 2008
- First among Best Places for Recent College Graduates, Economic Research Institute, 2006
- Third nationally in Salary Value Index, Salary.com, 2006
- Ninth among Hottest Mid-size Cities for Entrepreneurs, Entrepreneur, 2006
- One of only 12 Solar Cities chosen for a grant by the U.S. Department of Energy in 2008 to integrate solar technology into public buildings
- UT’s Supply Chain & Logistics graduate program ranked #9 by U.S. News & World Reports for 2010.
http://www.innovationvalleyinc.org/ has a good amount of information about the demographics of Knoxville, I’ll be using this information to my advantage.
Unfortunately I am out of the photography game right now. I sold my trusty rebel back in the summer to upgrade, and soon after upgrading my new to me camera decided to fail. So for now I am waiting calmly for the right time to purchase a replacement. My xbox 360 decided to die out too the other day, so it’s been rather boring lately. Fortunately Microsoft is going to replace/fix it, so it’s going to be sent out Monday for repair.
It’s given me time to reflect and work on other projects. I have installed e-commmerce software for chase bays, I have started 2010 work for miles-magazine, and put together a plan for promoting my lastest project; Octane Culture. I hope to grow all of these sites to the next level this year.
-Stay Classy
Knoxville, TN
After a week of long hard work; packing, unpacking, hanging pictures, and trying to make home normal again, we have succeeded.
I have a new address now, so those that need it can e-mail me, and I will be updating you by e-mail, as for now my phone number will remain the same with the nashville area code until after the first of the year.
I now begin my quest for a new job, as I was laid off from the previous one before making the journey to the smokie mountains. I would like to thank everyone at CDM for employing me and allowing me to gain experience I didn’t have before.
August 15-17
A long weekend, took off Monday for my birthday. Can’t believe I’m 23.
On with a few pictures I took from the weekend.
Saturday Tiffany Scored some free Titans tickets, my first titans game. Before the game we hit up Chili’s for some two for one margarita’s and split to the game.
Section 316, Row Y, Seat 24.
Shot a Chevelle Sunday. More here: http://miles-magazine.com/wordpress/2009/08/19/mikes-70-chevrolet-chevelle/
And Monday we headed to Nashville Shores for some sunbathing, and hit up the Hibachi Grill for some Japanese food.
Had an excellent weekend.
Also got a new toy in the mail from her:
Why I want to further my photography education.
Cover creation from Peter Belanger on Vimeo.
After working on the latest cover for Macworld Magazine I wanted to show what is involved in making a cover. I focused on the three main areas: the photography, photoshop and design. I chose a time lapse format to convey lots of information in a small amount of time. The only drawback of time lapse is that since half a day goes by in 30 seconds, the whole process seam so easy! Lots of details were left out of the design process (like the cover meetings and rounds of layout options). I began to photograph the design process after the layouts had already been narrowed down to just three cover designs.
On the technical side, for the time lapse video, I used the Canon 5D Mark II with a 24mm-70mm zoom. I chose the 5D because of its great image quality with high ISO’s. Canon’s sRAW1 gave me the flexibility of a RAW file with the file size of a jpeg. The actual Macworld cover was taken with a Phase One P65+ digital back attached to a 4×5 Sinar X camera with a 65mm lens.
Many thanks to Rob Schultz for allowing me to invade his office and literally shoot over his shoulder.

So stoked.. Skydive Soon
So for my 23rd B-Day my Mom and Stepdad are jumping. I am very excited as I have been wanting to do this for a couple of years. I have been looking around the internet at different videos trying to get my mind ready. My stepfather was a paratrooper back in the day, and has recently started jumping again. Mom asked if I wanted to do this for my birthday, and I was totally in, ready for that weekend to come, and it should be next weekend when it goes down.
I came across this video of a guy that produces jump videos, and it’s pretty cool because you can see space shuttle Atlantis heading to space in the background.

Our tax dollars hard at work. I don’t know if this pisses me off, or the fact that Michelle has 23 freaking assistants, 20 more than any other first lady that has served.
